If you are familiar with the Ann Arbor area, then you know the the Matthei Botanical Gardens is a paradise all year round, but especially in the Michigan winter. Since moving to Ann Arbor, my daughter and I are at the gardens nearly every week soaking up the warmth and admiring the plants. It's hard for me to choose a favorite area of the conservatory, but if I had to choose it might just be the desert room. I love the various muted shades of green from the cacti and the curving stone wall. Even though it's March, it feels like a warm summer day in the desert room.
The botanical garden was the perfect location to photograph Lauren and her daughter, Nora. Little Nora June is such a sweet and happy 10 month old (as you can see). We scheduled our session close to Nora's nap time which I usually try to avoid. This time it actually worked in our favor! As she got a little sleepy Nora snuggled up to her Mama and I was able to capture some of my favorite shots of the day.
These two share a beautiful bond and it was a joy photographing them.
