AT THE FARMHOUSE

In June of 2022, my husband and I took a leap of faith and purchased a 190-year-old cobblestone farmhouse just outside of Rochester, New York. Set on five acres of gardens, mature trees, and open pastureland, our home is surrounded by quiet farmland and offers a truly peaceful, pastoral setting.

I began offering our property as a session location shortly after, and it has quickly become one of my favorite places to photograph. From proposals and engagements to maternity and family sessions, this space provides a beautiful, natural backdrop that changes with the seasons. The light, the land, and the sense of calm continue to inspire me, and I’ve spent years learning how each corner of the property shines throughout the year.

With easy parking, complete privacy, and a park-like feel, this location is a wonderful option for families looking for a relaxed, natural setting without the distractions of a public space. It’s a place where sessions can unfold comfortably and organically, allowing space for connection and meaningful moments.

My favorite places to shoot

East Pasture

Once used as horse pastures, these fields are now filled with wildflowers and tall grasses. The eastern pastures offer open sunrise views and are bathed in the most beautiful, glowy light as the sun sets.

Gardens

During the warmer months, something is always in bloom around the home. We care for mature lilac trees, ponies, wildflowers, and a thoughtfully curated garden designed specifically for photography. With both wildflower and cut-flower sections blooming from June through September, along with a small pond in the back garden and exterior cobblestone walls, the property offers a variety of beautiful, natural backdrops for your next session.

West Meadow

One of my favorite locations on the property, the West Meadow truly shines at sunset. Surrounded by acres of open meadow, farmland, and mature trees, the backdrop feels both expansive and timeless.

Before the session was even scheduled, she took the time to fully understand what I was looking for and what I wanted to accomplish with these photos. They were our last photos as a family of 4 before we welcomed our third daughter and they were extremely special to us. When the date came, it had rained and it was horribly humid- Whitney, being a toddler mom herself, fully understood that my girls would NOT tolerate walking through the wet field as well as the humidity. It was no issue adjusting the date and our actual session date was perfect. From the moment we arrived at her house, Whitney treated us like we were old friends. The session was relaxed, not rushed, and she made us feel so comfortable. She must be magical, because my twins were so well behaved and followed every direction she gave. Yes, your family dog is allowed and welcome to join in the session. However, we do live on a main road and often have hens who free range in our yard. A leash and an extra person to help with your pup while you enjoy the session is recommended!
Location selection is chosen in collaboration with you! We base our selection on your vision for the images, time of day, and time of year.
In my opinion, all seasons are beautiful. The landscape changes with the seasons to offer variety all year long. Mature trees give us a blaze of color in the fall. It’s a winter wonderland after a snowfall. Spring and summer are bursting with blooms and greenery.
